Nestled in the roastery of First Batch Coffee Roasters, The Coffee Training Co. is dedicated to delivering high-quality coffee education and hands-on barista training on the Sunshine Coast. Since opening in June 2014, our mission has been to bridge the gap in coffee training by offering accessible, industry-relevant courses for everyone—from passionate home baristas to those pursuing a career in hospitality and even cafe and restaurant owners.

Our trainers are highly experienced coffee professionals who bring real-world knowledge into every session. With backgrounds that span café ownership and management, barista competitions, and the development of training and assessment programs, our team combines deep industry expertise with a genuine passion for teaching.

Brent Deller - Founder & Trainer

With over 15 years in the specialty coffee industry, Brent brings a wealth of hands-on experience across coffee roasting, café operations, wholesale coffee supply, and barista education. As the founder of First Batch Coffee Roasters & The Coffee Training Co, Brent is passionate about helping people build genuine confidence behind the coffee machine through practical, real-world training. His approachable teaching style and strong industry knowledge have helped train everyone from complete beginners to experienced café staff and business owners.

Brent’s background spans café management, coffee roasting, equipment operations, workflow systems, and coffee quality control, giving students valuable insight into the day-to-day demands of a modern café environment. Known for his focus on consistency, efficiency, and great customer experiences, Brent is committed to raising industry standards while making specialty coffee education accessible, engaging, and relevant for today’s café industry.
